Knitted props are the part of our range that cannot be machine-produced at quality. The texture that reads well under studio light — stitch depth, slight irregularity, the way wool catches a soft key light — comes from hand work. Machine knit at this scale tends to flatten into a plain surface that photographs as fabric rather than as texture.
That texture is also what makes these sets forgiving. A knitted layer holds its shape around a sleeping newborn without the hard edges a rigid prop introduces, so small differences in posing are less visible in the final frame.
Coordinated knitted sets in solid colourways — blue, green, yellow and khaki — plus a yarn-and-knitting-balls concept and a vintage furry sofa set. Each is built around a knitted outfit, with the supporting pieces varying by design: a knitted blanket, a backdrop, a pillow or posing surface, and in some sets a companion bear doll.
Every component is a separately priced variant. Studios that already own backdrops usually order outfits alone; photographers building a look from scratch tend to take the whole set.
We work in wool, mohair, cotton and acrylic blends. Yarn choice changes both the look under studio light and the care requirements — mohair gives the softest halo but sheds more, cotton holds colour best across repeated washing. Tell us the look you are after and we will advise on the trade-off.
Sets ship at a minimum of one, so you can order a single set to check texture and colour in your own lighting before committing to a fuller buy.
Any of these patterns can be produced in your own colourway, and we also develop original knitted designs from a sketch, reference photographs or a physical sample. Minimums, sampling and lead times for that work are set out on our custom production page.
It varies by design, but a set typically pairs a knitted outfit with coordinating pieces — a blanket or backdrop, a pillow or posing surface, and in some designs a companion doll. The exact components of each set are listed in its variant table.
Yes. Every component is listed as its own variant with its own SKU and price, so you can order just the outfit, just the blanket, or any combination. Whole-set pricing is usually better value if you need the coordinated look.
Hand work gives the stitch depth and irregularity that reads as texture under studio light. Machine knit at this scale tends to flatten out and photograph as a plain surface, which is the main reason we keep this range hand-produced.
Spot-clean where possible and hand-wash cool when a full wash is needed, then dry flat rather than hanging — wet wool stretches under its own weight. Avoid tumble drying, which felts the yarn and shrinks the piece unevenly.
Yes, and we can also produce to your own pattern or label. Custom colourways, sizing, own-label packaging and original designs are all handled through our custom production service, which lists the current minimums and lead times.
